OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG. I'm done!! I can't believe it!
Thank you so much to everyone who sent emails/tweets/whatever when I went offline to wish me luck. I finally finished my crazy busy stressful exciting scary confusing out-of-control semester is finally over and I graduated from law school on Saturday!!!
Not only did I graduate but I was in charge of planning an event for the Black Law Students Alliance and I invited Valerie Jarrett (she's a MichLaw alum) and she actually came!!! She met us before the event began and spoke to the ten of us and was basically the sweetest, nicest, most wonderful person in the world. I was so nervous the night before that I didn't sleep a wink but she was so incredibly kind, all of the admiration and slightly obsessive Googling of her that I've done in the past two years was totally worth it. She also gave our commencement speech and she said it was her first (!) and she was completely amazing.
This was, so far, the best freaking day of my life.
*Side note: Yes, President Obama did speak at our all-school graduation last week. Awesome!!!*
Technically, I haven't graduated yet. Our grades aren't due from the professors until June and we don't get our actual diplomas until July, but I turned in all of my work and as far as I'm concerned, I am DONE!
What's next you ask? Well my mom and stepfather are here (my aunt left yesterday), so I'm going to spend the next couple of days hanging out with them. Then, I haven't slept in about three weeks so that's first on my to do list. And on Saturday I'm going home to Arizona!!! I know we're supposed to be boycotting the state and all but my grandmother is in AZ and I miss her so much and I can't wait to see her! I'll try not to buy very much while I'm there. :-P
When I get back, it's time for hard core study for the bar. I'm taking the New York bar (for those of you looking quizzically at your screens right now, I'm not moving to Detroit any more) and as you probably know, JFK Jr. failed it THREE TIMES! So, bad news for the blog, mama is going to be more offline than ever until the end of July. Then I take the bar, and then my long and fruitful career of homelessness and unemployment will begin. :-/
No, I'm kidding. My week in Arizona is also "start looking for a job week" and I'm pretty sure that I'll find something in 6-12 years.
Anyways, I just wanted to say thanks so so much to everyone for your support and to announce that yes, it will still be a while before I'm able to start posting again. Becoming a lawyer is no joke yo!
love you all!
